After Zayn Malik deleted his twitter yesterday, The Huffington Post made a list of the top 10 most-followed teenage tweeters! You can read what they wrote below and the full list!

When One Direction fans heard the news that band member Zayn Malik deleted his Twitter last night, it was the cry of #1Distress heard ’round the Twitterverse. His final tweet — sent out to 4.9 million followers — read, “The reason i don’t tweet as much as i use to, is because I’m sick of all the useless opinions and hate that i get daily goodbye twitter ”

Before he deleted his account, Zayn was one of the most-followed teens on all of Twitter. In fact, even without Zayn, the boys of One Direction are well-represented in the top 10. But there are still a few young stars who have more than double the followers of even the most popular band member on Twitter, Harry Styles.

(And for those of you mourning the loss of @zaynmalik’s existential tweets, have hope: stars like Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus have taken breaks from the social networking site and returned to it later!)

#10: Cody Simpson

With 3.1 million followers, 15-year-old Aussie pop star Cody Simpson is swiftly raising his ranking on Twitter. His devoted fanbase, who call themselves “Cody’s Angels,” follow the singer/surfer’s every move through his frequently-updated Twitter feed.

#9: Kendall Jenner

At just 16, Kendall Jenner is already on track to achieve fame at the level of sister Kim Kardashian. With 3.7 million followers, the model and TV personality has earned a spot in our top 10 most-followed tweeters under 20.

#8: Nick Jonas

19-year-old Nick may be the youngest of the Jonas brothers, but he he has more clout on Twitter than either of his older brothers, with 4.7 million followers.

#7: Liam Payne

With 5.4 million Twitter followers, Liam Payne comes in just behind Niall. Our favorite tweet from Liam? “poooop is all i have to sayy.”

#6: Niall Horan

One Direction’s golden boy Niall Horan comes in at a fairly close second with 5.8 million followers. Like Harry, Niall is also known for his oddly amusing, and often poetic, tweets.

#5: Harry Styles

With 6.2 million followers, Harry Styles leads the One Direction pack on Twitter. He is known to tweet such bizarre statements as, “I just got caked in the face…and a cake made of ice cream is harder than regular cake. Hard cake in the face.”

#4: Miley Cyrus

More than once, Miley Cyrus’s always-bold Twitter account has caused a major scandal and media frenzy. When Miley debuted her short, platinum pixie cut on Twitter, the news made headlines for days. The star is also known to tweet new-agey messages of peace, love and positivity.

Demi Lovato tweets to over 8.7 million eager Lovatics every day with her signature messages of inner strength, self-acceptance and inspiration. Now, devoted fans can also follow Demi on her new Tumblr page.

#2: Selena Gomez

Justin Bieber’s better half clocks in with a whopping 12.4 million Twitter followers. That may less than half of Biebs’ following, but it’s enough to earn the “Love You Like A Love Song” singer the second spot in our top 10.

If Lady Gaga is the queen of Twitter, then Justin Bieber is the king. Second only to mother monster in number of followers, nearly 27 million eager tweeters follow Biebs’ feed for daily updates on the star’s comings and goings.
